BALIWAG CITY, July 1 – Health Services Unit headed by the institutional head nurse Angeline Robles, in collaboration with Baliwag City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office’s Rescue FVE, led a full-day comprehensive first aid training session at the Montessori de Sagrada Familia’s Pre-Elementary Indoor Playground last July 1.
The training equipped various units with essential first aid skills, including members of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OSH), Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Subject Area Supervisors, Grade Level Coordinators, and MAPEH teachers from elementary, pre-elementary, and high school levels.
Speakers Mr. Victor Sarmiento Jr. and Mr. Adrian Entia covered topics such as the use of triangular bandages, the critical step of assessment of injuries, distinguishing between cardiac arrest and heart attacks, and CPR techniques for infants, children, and adults.
At the end of the event, the speakers assessed the participants’ learnings by creating a giant rotation where everyone demonstrated their bandage knotting skills for different scenarios. Teachers eagerly volunteered to be “victims,” with one even allowing herself to be tied down to a transportation stretcher.
FVE’s initiative aims to establish primary first aid responders in every school and barangay in the city of Baliwag, ensuring quick responses to emergencies and minimizing further harm.
