With hearts aligned toward sustainable development goals, Montessori De Sagrada Familia, Inc. (MDSF) Grade School Department promoted peace and embraced the call for global unity during the United Nations Day Culminating Day on October 18.
The event, spearheaded by the Araling Panlipunan team, unfolded at the MDSF Gymnasium under the theme “United for Action: Building a Better Nation,” where teachers led by the masters of ceremonies Ms. Clarisse Glem Dela Cruz and Mr. Mark Jerico Veneracion inspired attendees to take action for positive change.
Vice Principal for Academic Affairs Jomar Dela Cruz underscored the importance of hard work, dedication, and shared responsibility, reminding students that we all have a role to play in protecting the planet, its resources, and its people.
”It must begin in schools,” Dela Cruz said.
Young artists splashed creativity onto posters during competitions, while the Act Now campaign pushed students to complete tasks tied to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Moreover, an SDG-themed quiz bee challenged participants to sharpen their knowledge of pressing global issues.
“Today is the day—not tomorrow or some distant future when there’s no planet left to save,” Moira Beatrice Villarama, a two-time gold medalist, reminded the crowd.
Vice Principal for Student Affairs Christian Anthony Valino closed the event on a hopeful note.
“Every action, no matter how small, matters,” Valino expressed.
Additionally, the celebration reached its peak as students, swaying and smiling, danced to the lively tune of “It’s a Small World,” wrapping the day in joy and unity.
