The entire Montessori De Sagrada Familia community is delighted to welcome its new Senior High School Department Head for the SY 2021-2022 in the person of Ms. Maria Cristina Camangon, also known as T. Maricris. She may be new as a department head, but T. Maricris was one of the pioneer teachers of MDSF two decades ago. After finishing her bachelor’s degree, T. Maricris started her career at MDSF as a Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teacher in the high school department for nine (9) years.
In 2008, she left the country and explored the international education landscape in Qatar. For seven years, she was assigned in various teaching positions in the preschool up to high school levels. Seven years later, T. Maricris served as the department head of the elementary program of the Philippine International School of Qatar.
After thirteen years of working overseas, T. Maricris decided to go back to her first home, the Montessori De Sagrada Familia. She was welcomed not only by her former colleagues but also by her former Sagradan students who are now sending their children to MDSF.
“I am extremely delighted to come back to my first home. MDSF has played a vital part in whatever accomplishments I have had. I was blessed and fortunate enough to be given a chance to work with wonderful people way back then and be able to teach young Sagradans during those times. It is very nostalgic and surreal to me walking in the corridors of the High School building again. MDSF has really grown as an institution and I am incredibly proud of what MDSF has become. It fills my heart to see former colleagues and former students most especially those who are already in the administration now. I am in awe of all their achievements. I am beyond grateful to MDSF for allowing me to experience things twice. My journey of being a teacher started here and my mind is at peace knowing that on the second time around, I am again in the place I call home.”, T. Maricris said in her speech during their departmental huddle meeting.
Given her background and expertise gained from her wide experience as a teacher/administrator, T. Maricris hopes to contribute to the realization of the school’s vision and mission by starting to build relationships with her colleagues. She firmly believes that a safe atmosphere in the workplace can pave the way for collaboration, solution-seeking, and productivity.
