A partnership between home and school must be fostered to help the children still obtain quality education despite the struggles brought by the pandemic.
In connection, Montessori De Sagrada Familia (MDSF) inaugurated the selection of two parent representatives in each class who are expected to: (a) help in the dissemination of information regarding school’s activities, (b) encourage other parents to participate in those activities, (c) communicate concerns of the parents to the homeroom adviser and school’s administration, (d) serve as resource support for curriculum activities, and (e) regularly attend meetings and consultations with school’s administration.
Through the parent representatives, Maria Cristina Santos Silamor, the school principal and directress, believes that the parents will be more involved in the education of their children especially nowadays that parental support is very much needed. Silamor also highlighted that the selection of the parent representatives would also prompt cooperation and networking among themselves.
Silamor also added, “In a time where education stakeholders do not see each other face to face, engagement is very vital for schools to operate efficiently. We also believe that the school could use their recommendations and suggestions in improving its educational services.”
Meanwhile, the school is in the process of preparing webinars focused on supporting the education of the children this pandemic.
