It all starts with rigid preparation.
To maintain its position as a tough contender in Press Conference, the Sagradan Penpushers invested in honing the journalistic skills of aspiring student-journalists through a one-week seminar-workshop, April 16-20.
Aside from providing the attendees with the fundamental and advanced competencies in journalism, the seminar-workshop primarily aimed to determine the potential contestants in Press Conference and editorial board of the campus papers next school year.
“Nobody is born to be a champion. With constant practice, determination and passion in writing, everything is possible for you to be the next National School Press Conferences (NSPC) Champion in our school,” Mr. Jared T. Manalastas, one of the advisers of the Sagradan Penpushers, said.
Catering to 45 students, the first leg of the seminar-workshop focused on News and Sports Writing moderated by Mr. Shem G. Ibabao, a campus paper adviser, a resident judge in Press Conference, and a prolific speaker in campus journalism from National Capital Region (NCR).
After each session, the participants created an output which was evaluated by Mr. Ibabao prior to the recognition of the best works scheduled on the last day.
