With servant leadership as one of its core values, the students of Montessori De Sagrada Familia (MDSF) – Elementary and High School Department hailed new sets of officers during its annual after-school clubs election, Jul. 7.
Together with the assigned club moderators who facilitated the election, 6 clubs from elementary and 10 from high school were able to elect new student officers for the school year 2017 – 2018 consisting of pupils from Grades 3 – 6 for the elementary level and Grades 7-10 for the high school. The said election aims to uphold student leadership among every Sagradan.
It encouraged pupils to engage themselves in extracurricular activities in the fields of English, Mathematics, Science, Filipino, Home Economics, and Sports to balance and enjoy their academic life.
Furthermore, the club election promotes socio-civic awareness among the students by practicing their right to vote their chosen candidate and their right to be heard.
Additionally, research funded by Nuffield Foundation in England found out that engaging in extracurricular affairs like school clubs can improve the academic performance and social skills of disadvantaged primary school pupils. Likewise, teachers from different departments agreed that school club is a vehicle for enrichment.
Meanwhile, the date for the oath taking of the newly elected officers is yet to announce.
